Health Day at Bachner Campus

Fit at work
Our apprentices recently spent a health-conscious day with Alina Renkl, our expert in Corporate Health Management. They delved into a mix of theory and practice that provided them with insights into various aspects of health.
In the theoretical parts of the day, they focused on topics such as sleep, mental health, exercise, and nutrition. Not only was the nutrition plan of the German national team a focal point, but also the analysis of sugar and salt content in foods.
The practical part was equally enlightening: A highlight was the Y-Balance Test, which assessed coordination, flexibility, and stability.
The "Sugar Cube Challenge" was particularly interesting. In it, our apprentices worked together in group to determine the sugar content in beverages like cola, coffee, and smoothies. This highlighted how much sugar often lurks in seemingly harmless drinks.
They also used cards to sort different foods, such as eggs, salmon and beef, according to their protein content in order to deepen their understanding of a balanced diet.
For lunch, there was a selection of chicken with rice as well as falafel and vegetables to emphasize the importance of a healthy diet.
"It was particularly nice to see how interested the trainees were in a healthy lifestyle and how much enthusiasm they showed during the practical parts. There were many 'aha moments' and I think everyone was able to take away some new insights into the topic of health. So the first two Health Days were a complete success," said Alina Renkl after the Health Day.
