A systematic approach to energy efficiency

Bachner Elektro ISO 50001 certified

Bachner Elektro has been officially ISO 50001 certified since April. This international standard governs the systematic establishment, implementation and continuous improvement of the company’s energy management system. The aim is to continuously reduce the company’s energy consumption and steadily increase the proportion of renewable energy. At its core, this involves assessing the source of the energy used within the company – such as electricity, fuel or gas – and analysing its consumption across our various sites and our vehicle fleet. The next step involves drawing up an action plan to increase energy efficiency and involving staff in the process, for example through training. Benefits for Bachner Elektro, as well as for our entire group of companies, include, for example, a reduction in energy costs and emissions, as well as greater transparency regarding energy consumption.

A decision taken with foresight

As a company, we have made a conscious commitment to implementing the ISO 50001 standard. We have the expertise required for an energy management system in-house, thanks to our Environmental Management Officer, Sonja Holzner, and the Energy and Environment Team – particularly as we have had a certified environmental management system in place for ten years. With the introduction of ISO 50001, our energy consumption figures are now being scrutinised even more closely. This in-depth analysis of potential savings enables us to develop and implement energy strategies for our various sites.
The structured recording of energy consumption and flows enables us to identify targeted measures, most of which also save costs. Whether this involves the gradual optimisation of our sites through increased use of solar power and the installation of battery storage systems, or the phased transition of our vehicle fleet to electric propulsion. Essentially, this enables us to reduce energy consumption – and thus CO₂ emissions – whilst simultaneously cutting operating costs. Furthermore, it helps us meet the climate targets set by the government. We can therefore rightly say: energy management is a matter close to our hearts!
